2016 The Year In Review

As in the past, here's the yearly Year In Review.......the good, the bad and not in any particular order.

We lost Morgan this year.  Though he wasn't with us long, he was well loved.

Grandboy Miles turned a year old!

We found out we're to be grandparents again!

Halloweening for the grandboys!

We've been in the homestead for NINE years!

Another Ocean City Vacation with my sister, nieces and great-nephews.

I have somewhat of a new obsession with the sky!

Celebrated a birthday with a friend I hadn't seen in a very long time.

Life with Rooker is always interesting.

My first photo bomb!

The Next To Last Post of the Year

Almost my last post of the top ten for 2016 post will be posting at 11:59 p.m.  Don't expect much with it though....not much happened this year.

I don't make resolutions, mostly because I never start them much less finish them...sad but true.

I'll be bringing in the New Year at home, in my pajamas, with my hubby and pets.  We will probably continue our binge of "The Vikings" and we may not even make it to midnight.

With our Best Buy gift cards from a few posts back, I decided I wanted a new tablet.  I have 2 android ones, but the one was about 4 years old and the other, though nice, isn't top of the line.  So I purchased a Samsung Galaxy Tab A that came highly recommended from the Samsung guy at Best Buy.  I had it for 2 weeks before I decided to return it.  Why?  It wasn't any better than the two I already had - the specs even matched!   I found it hard to believe that Samsung was still putting out a tablet with older specs.  Well......they do have a better model, though it will run me $200 more!

It was then I looked at the area I never do - the iPads.  I've never been an Apple person mostly due to cost and I'm so far invested in android apps, I didn't want to repurchase; however, the iPad mini 2 was a good price with the specs I was looking for.  So I gave in.......Best Buy naturally was out of it; but I just ordered it from their website and it's to arrive on Wednesday.

So we'll see....

An "Ah-Ha" Moment

I was out doing some last minute Christmas shopping and was looking down a candy aisle when the thought of “those weight watcher people certainly don’t eat like me” laughingly went through my mind.

It was that thought that brought me to a complete stop….I was correct, they don’t eat like me and they are losing weight….and well, I’m not.
It made me think of the quote: “You can’t keep doing the same things and expect a different result.”

I need to get my butt in gear. Not after the first of the year but NOW. Time to hop back on the weight loss wagon and get moving.

I’ve decided to do a modified version of Weight Watchers. It will not be Smart Points, I don’t like SP and I’m never going to; fighting SP has prevented me from losing weight. I’m not blaming SP; I’m blaming me for fighting it for too long. The saying find the weight loss plan you like or else you won’t stick to it comes to mind here; I can’t do SP, because I don’t like it!

I think I’ll stick with Simply Filling. Why SF doesn’t require the weighing, measuring, tracking….I’ll start by doing that. I can’t depend on the “stop eating when you’re full; not stuffed” rule – if I were able to do that, I wouldn’t need Weight Watchers.

In case, WW has left you in the cold on Simply Filling, it is the no count option. You eat from a list of certain foods (fruits, veggies, whole grains, fat free dairy, lean proteins, light breads) which you need not count any points for. Anything off the list comes out of your weekly points allotment. If you are a Weight Watchers member the information is available here:

I highly recommend this FaceBook group:
Simply Filling My Weight Watchers Plan of Choice

Go into your app/website settings and change your tracking method to Simply Filling.

Also, I’ve just learned a little trick you can do, if you don’t like losing weekly points…go into your tracker settings ONLINE (can’t do it on the app).  Change your settings from Losing to Maintaining.  It will then allow you to set your Daily (if still counting points) and Weekly points to what you want (to a certain max of course).  Nice hidden feature!

And Life Goes On

It's been way too long since I've blogged; but I haven't given up.

The Advocare Spark drink was a bust.....its taste was horrible and I felt rather weird, spacey on it.  I didn't continue with it long and I hated myself for looking for an "easy fix".

Slimming World became too complicated, I do think it's a plan worthwhile but it's too much to know and not workable for me.

So Weight Watchers it is but I've decided I need to simplify it to get it to work.

For one I've chosen 3 types of breakfasts to choose from in the mornings; 3 I can prepare quickly plus an additional one for grab and go.  I'm going to do the same for lunch and snacks; dinner wise I'm going to plan those out for the week.  I've decided there really isn't a reason to worry over that stuff now; wait to the first of the year and move on.  That doesn't mean I plan on eating all over the place through the holidays, it just means I'm not worrying over points right now.
