The Walking Dead Season 7 Premiere

If you don't know, I'm a HUGE Walking Dead fan - H U G E !!!!!

That said, I LOVED the Season Premiere - please be aware this post may contain S P O I L E R S!

Of course the BIG question since the last season was - Who Did Negan Kill?  Comic book readers know this kill went to Glen....but also knew the show doesn't necessary follow the comics.

Way back in season 6, Glen fell off a dumpster and we watched in horror as a herd of walkers pulled his insides out as he screamed.  When that happened, I was shocked!  Never saw it coming - it was actually a well played out scene.  When you can surprise your audience - that's a good episode.

Then they ruined it......Nick actually fell on top of Glen when they went off the dumpster and it was his guts you were seeing ripped out - good ole Glen was able to slide under the dumpster and live.  It just seemed like a cheat.

The second half of the season was all leading up to Negan.  I waited with baited breath to see this scene come to TV.  Then they ruined it with a cliff hanger.  Mind you, I don't mind cliffhangers; however for this scene to work....you needed to complete the scene.

The problem with this cliffhanger was that for months that's all you heard about - every theory, etc...  By the time it arrived, I felt more like - let's just get it over with and move on with the story.

The season premiere was not a disappointment.  I cried.  And rather than one, Negan took out two!  Abraham and Glen.

In my opinion.....since Abraham was the first kill; they should of done that at the season finale; then when you came back - kill Glen.  No one would of been expecting that second kill!  But I don't write the show, lol!

Again, I LOVED the episode, I really did; but those are just little things I notice that I think could of been better thought out.

So Negan killed Abraham and Glen; took Daryl and left the rest to mourn.  It was a depressing episode.  I know there are many that felt it was too brutal - but I disagree; the audience needs to know exactly how Negan is.  And for those thinking Carol is coming back and gonna whip a** like she did with Terminus.......well, you can hope, but I've got doubts about that.  Negan will be around for a while.

Weight Watchers Meeting

I've been gone awhile but not completely!  I am still here.

We had an interesting meeting this week.  Our group also has a FaceBook group where we can talk all week long and share things.  The day before the meeting someone had posted that they felt really guilty because they had eaten "one" cookie.

In my humble opinion, "one" cookie isn't going to fail you (and it didn't for her); but we all understood how being addicted to food is a challenge.  Several of us stated such and stated our own struggles to the point that it often becomes work and consumes our lives.  Our leader immediately posted that we needed to discuss this at the meeting.

But when we got to the meeting, she started the conversation with wanting to hear from her "whiners".  This was a little insulting, in my opinion, we weren't whining, we were stating the facts of the struggles we all deal with.  No one was truly planning on quitting, we were all just struggling with our journey.  Oh, there was some advice offered:  "Concentrate on eating healthy stuff, don't concentrate on the treats"    "Being pre-diabetic keeps me on track"      "It took me 2 years to lose the weight, you can do it too"     But frankly, it's stuff we've all heard before.

I made the comment that I was sick of counting points......but that seemed to fall on deaf ears.

But it brought me back to the Simply Filling Technique....Weight Watchers best kept secret.  So I'm journeying on with that!

A Half True Comment

Visiting boards talking about Weight Watchers......I find those supporters of Smart Points (and I must say I have no problem with anyone supporting a program they love; I do have issue when those supporters have a need to put down anyone on any other program) one of the most common comments about SP coming from the supporters is "I don't understand how anyone can starve on this program, all fruits and vegetables are 0 sp and you can eat as much as you want."

That comment isn't entirely true; potatoes, corn, peas - all have a point value to them, starchy vegetables are not 0 sp.  Guess what?  The same was true on Points Plus!  That isn't a "new" thing that came out with Smart Points; it already existed.  As a matter of fact, vegetables (with exception of the starchy ones) were 0 pts on the original point plan!

Going Pointless

Right now I'm trying to refocus myself and just watch what and how much I'm eating; but it does feel liberating to not count a point.

Hubby had a birthday this week and guess what?  I ate cake!  You heard that right, and not just any kind of cake the kind with the really sugary sweet sickening icing on it!  And I ate another piece of it last night - YUMMY!

One of the reasons I enjoyed Points and Points Plus was because I could eat all my favorite foods and still lose weight (that was their big advertising).  Those programs taught me how to get portions under control, not deprive myself and gave me guidelines to achieve in a day (water, veggies, fruits, dairy, vitamin, etc...) AND I lost 40 lbs AND never once felt like I was on a "diet".

Smart Points gives me no guidelines because you should eat those things anyway and guess what? The point values encourage you to deprive yourself - oh, they won't tell you to do that; they'll say "if you have the points, eat it" but they fail to tell you that you won't have any points left for anything else.

There are lots of successful people out there doing Smart Points and raving about it...it detoxed them off of sugar, they never crave anything sugary............but guess what?  Sugary things were never MY craving; salt-yes, sugar-no.  But guess what I'm craving now?  Yep, Smart Points has me wanting sugar - weird isn't it?

That's because we're all different - one size doesn't fit all.  Smart Points doesn't fit ME and that's okay; if it fits you I say Go For It!  However, if you are a Smart Points person, don't knock the people that want to do the prior plans or "assume" they want to lose weight while eating nothing but junk food.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  Ask yourself why did WW support the original points for 10 years?  TEN years - if it was such a bad plan, why encourage it?  Why did they support Points Plus for 5 years?  Neither of those plans became "bad" over night!  And WW can say "Well new studies show...."; nope!  Sugar being bad isn't a new study - studies have been stating that FOREVER; ask yourself why WW waited so long!

I won't argue that Smart Points may seem the healthier plan - but it really isn't if I'm constantly craving sugar.  WW has ALWAYS had a healthy type plan that didn't involve points - it's called Simply Filling.  All Smart Points is, IS the Simply Filling plan with points.  So they gave points to Simply Filling and changed the calculation so you'll avoid sugary things.  That's it, nothing more.

I HATE Smart Points - and I'm proud of that!

I Hate Smart Points

Weight Watchers Beyond The Scale Smart Points Program - Members lost 15% more weight in their first two months than with the previous program.

Weight Watchers is proud of that statement......Smart Points triumphs!  I just got the September/October Edition of Weight Watchers magazine in the mail (have no idea why it has arrived so late), page 82 offers me some recipes on satisfying snacks (the Smart Points way of course).  The first one starts with 1 Brown Rice Cake.  I'm sorry, but anything that starts with a rice cake won't be satisfying my cravings, but it gets better...on top of that rice cake we are to put 1/3 cup cooked edamame (mashed) and 1 tsp sesame seeds for an Open-Face Edamame for 4 sp.

Doesn't sound appetizing and definitely the photo does it no justice; I would never waste 4 pt (of any point program) on that! EVER!

I hate Smart Points.  Did you hear that?  I'll yell it I HATE SMART POINTS.
I love my meetings, I love my leader, I love the people in the group....but I HATE the program.  It's not doable for me short-term or long-term.

I'm going to tell you something about dieting......one diet does not fit all.  What works for one, may not for another - that's why there are so many different programs out there.  If I prefer Points Plus or the Original Point System over Smart Points, why should I be harassed for that???  Why shouldn't I be able to do the program I want?

And that's what I'm going to do....it may be Points Plus, it may be Points, it may be Calories.....but it won't be Smart Points!  Oh, I'm still going to meetings and such....but I'm not doing that very restrictive "lifestyle" change they've forced on me.

Now I want to tell you something.....I'm having cake tonight and maybe some ice cream too.  It's hubby's birthday and we're celebrating!  And tomorrow, I'll get right back on track!

A Weight Loss Goal and Old Blog Posts

When I restarted this blog, I restarted my start weight on the sidebar.  However, this journey with Weight Watchers actually began in 10/07/15.  At that time, I weighed in at 183 lbs.  This week I weighed in at 174 lbs.  9 lbs. down, made my first goal of 5%.

Doesn't seem like much in a year does it?  Remember though, I've only been half doing the program, not really making the effort.  I NEED to get back to making the effort.

So yeah, I made a goal.....but I know I can do much better.

I'm going through my other blog and will be pulling certain postings over to this one; so you'll see some posts with some old dates on them!
