Oprah raves about bread while on Weight Watchers...we've all seen the commercials...we're all tired of hearing it.
Guess what? You could ALWAYS eat bread on Weight Watchers, not just on the Smart Points program. So that commercial makes totally no sense what-so-ever.
I'm rather picky about my bread. The lower point ones are normally extra thin or small; or have this spongy, airy taste to them - blah! I just don't like them. I buy them, use one or two slice, the bread goes bad and it goes into the trash.
However, I discovered Aldi's Fit & Active Bread - it's 1 Smart Point per slice (for those on Points Plus, it is still 1 pt) and it tastes just like the real thing! I'm not kidding - I love it AND the whole loaf gets eaten. It comes in both a multigrain and white version and I can't sing it's praises enough:
Once you taste it, you'll never want another kind and will make a special trip to the store just to get it!
Bread came up in our last meeting...so imagine my surprise when the lady in front of me was talking about this bread and said once she read the ingredients she would never eat it. Why? Because the ingredients included "bamboo fiber". She's not eating bamboo.
I looked it up...not only is bamboo fiber in most gluten free products, it is loaded with nutrients and people in other countries have been eating bamboo for years - it is readily available in their grocery stores - fresh, canned and frozen. Now I'm not saying it is totally healthy....but the chances of it hurting you are small. There's always someone that will have an ill effect to everything.
But if you're looking for a good bread, low in points but not in taste - this is the bread you want!
